GUTTERING THAT WORKS

Clean, repair or full replacement in uPVC and cast iron - protecting your home from water damage.

Guttering & Drainage

Guttering & Drainage

About This Service

Faulty guttering is one of the most overlooked causes of property damage. Damp walls, cracked render, rotten fascias and undermined foundations all start with rainwater going where it shouldn't.

We clean, repair and fully replace gutters and downpipes across the North East. We work with every profile - half-round, square and ogee - in both uPVC and cast iron, and we always check the fascia behind the gutter while we're up there.

Every job ends with a flow test, so you know the water is actually getting to the drain.

What's Included

EVERY JOB COVERS

  • Full gutter clean and unblock
  • Repair of sagging, cracked or leaking gutters
  • Full gutter replacement in uPVC
  • Cast iron repair and like-for-like replacement
  • All profiles - half-round, square, ogee, deep flow
  • Downpipe replacement, rerouting and clearance
  • Gutter guard installation to prevent leaf build-up
  • Hopper and outlet replacement
  • Fascia condition check included as standard
  • Flow test on completion before we leave

How We Work

THREE STEPS. NO SURPRISES.

01

ASSESS

We look at the full guttering run, check for sagging, cracks and blockages, and inspect the fascia behind it.

02

CLEAN, REPAIR OR REPLACE

We recommend the most cost-effective option - a clean and small repair, or a full replacement if the system is past its best.

03

FLOW TEST

Before we leave, we run water through the system to confirm everything drains properly to the downpipe.

Gutters visibly sagging away from the fascia

4

Visible cracks, splits or joint failures

5

Plants or moss growing inside the gutter

6

Stained brickwork or render below the gutter line

The Job Itself

WHAT THE WORK ACTUALLY INVOLVES

  1. 01

We watch it in the rain, or we make rain

A dry gutter tells you nothing. We flood the run with water so you can see exactly where it spills, whether it is a joint, a sag, or a downpipe backing up at the gully.

  2. 02

    Clear and check the falls

Moss, tennis balls and half a hedge come out first. Then we string a line along the run: gutter needs a consistent fall towards the outlet, roughly 3mm per metre. Most 'leaking' gutters are just hanging level or backwards after years of bracket creep.

  3. 03

    Repair or replace

Split joints get new seals and clips. Rusted cast iron, brittle sun-damaged PVC and sagging runs get replaced. Where the fascia behind is soft, we say so before fitting new gutter to rotten timber - which is the single most common shortcut in this trade.

  4. 04

    Downpipes and the ground

We follow the water all the way down. Cracked shoes, disconnected downpipes discharging against the wall, and blocked gullies cause more damp than the gutter ever did.

GUTTERING WORK, DURHAM

Verified Facebook recommendation · Durham · 11 May

  • Full gutter clean along the whole run, not just the section that was spilling.
  • Corroded joints replaced and sealed so the run holds water instead of dripping down the wall.
  • Guttering and drainage work - this job was not a roof replacement, and we would rather show you what we actually did than dress it up as something bigger.

Honest Pricing

WHAT IT'S LIKELY TO COST

Guttering is priced by the metre-run and material. A clean is the cheapest job, repairs sit in the middle, and a full uPVC replacement is the largest cost - but still typically a one-day job. Cast iron costs more than uPVC. Every job is a fixed written price including disposal of the old guttering.

A clear and reseal on a standard semi is typically £90 to £180. Full replacement guttering with downpipes usually runs £550 to £1,400 depending on the property and the profile.

WHAT MOVES THE PRICE

  • Length of run and number of corners, outlets and stop ends
  • Profile and material - half round PVC is cheapest, deep flow and cast-iron-effect aluminium cost more
  • Whether the fascia behind the gutter is sound enough to fix to
  • Height and access, especially rear elevations reached through a back lane
  • Whether the underground gully needs rodding or a new connection

NOT INCLUDED

  • Underground drainage excavation or new soakaways
  • Fascia and soffit replacement, priced separately
  • Rendering or brick repair where a long-term overflow has damaged the wall
  • Internal damp treatment

Timescales

HOW LONG IT TAKES - AND IF THE WEATHER TURNS

  • Clearing and resealing is a couple of hours.
  • A full replacement on a semi is typically one day; larger or three-storey properties, two.
  • We do not work at height in high winds. Gutter work in ordinary rain is fine - it is honestly the best time to diagnose it.
