EMERGENCY ROOF REPAIRS
Storm damage, sudden leaks, missing tiles - we aim to be on site within 24 hours.

Emergency Repairs
About This Service
A roof emergency doesn't wait for office hours. Storm damage, a sudden leak in the bedroom ceiling, tiles in the garden after high winds - we prioritise emergency call-outs and aim to attend within 24 hours across the full North East.
Our first job is to make the property safe and stop further water getting in. If we can carry out the full permanent repair on the same visit, we will. If not, we apply temporary weatherproofing the same day and return to complete the job as soon as possible.
We also provide the written reports and photographs you'll need for an insurance claim.

Warning Signs
SIGNS YOU NEED THIS
Spotted any of these? Book a free inspection - better to know now than after the next storm.
Active water coming through a ceiling or light fitting
Tiles or slates visible in the garden after a storm
A visible hole, gap or torn felt in the roof
Lifted, flapping or missing sections of flat roof
Chimney pot or stack visibly damaged or leaning
Storm damage to fascias, gutters or downpipes
The Job Itself
WHAT THE WORK ACTUALLY INVOLVES
- 01
Phone triage
The first call decides whether this is a make-safe tonight or a repair on Tuesday. We ask what you can see, whether anything is loose over a pavement or a car, and whether water is coming through a light fitting - that one is an electrical risk and we will tell you to isolate the circuit.
- 02
Make safe
Loose slates, hanging ridge tiles and swinging lead are removed rather than left to fall. If it is over a footpath we cordon it. Nothing gets left in a state where the next gust becomes somebody else's problem.
- 03
Temporary weathering
A reinforced tarpaulin is battened down, not weighted with bricks. Battening is what makes it survive the second night of a storm, which is when most emergency sheeting fails.
- 04
Permanent repair and evidence
Once the weather passes we return and do the real repair at a fixed written price. You get dated photographs of the damage and the make-safe, which is what insurers ask for first.
Honest Pricing
WHAT IT'S LIKELY TO COST
Emergency call-outs themselves are free - we don't charge to attend and assess. You only pay for the make-safe work and the permanent repair. Costs depend on the scale of damage and whether scaffolding is needed. We give you a fixed written price before any chargeable work begins, and provide the documentation you need for your insurer.
Emergency attendance and make-safe is typically £150 to £400 depending on time of day and access. The permanent repair is quoted separately at our normal rates - no storm premium.
WHAT MOVES THE PRICE
- Time of call - late evening and weekend attendance costs more than a weekday morning
- Whether the roof can be reached safely at night or must wait for daylight and a tower
- Extent of temporary sheeting needed and how long it must stay up
- Whether debris removal at ground level is involved
NOT INCLUDED
- Internal drying, dehumidifiers and plaster repair
- Insurance claim handling, though we supply everything your insurer needs
- Tree removal or fence and outbuilding damage
- Permanent repair works, which are quoted separately after the make-safe
Timescales
HOW LONG IT TAKES - AND IF THE WEATHER TURNS
- We aim to attend genuine emergencies within 24 hours, and usually much sooner outside a region-wide storm.
- During a named storm we prioritise by risk: anything unsafe over people first, active internal water second, cosmetic damage last.
- We will not climb on a wet roof in 60mph gusts to save a few hours - it is how roofers get killed. We make the ground safe, sheet what can be reached, and return the moment the wind drops.
